Insect Bites and Stings

Only female mosquitoes bite. They need blood for their eggs to mature. Male mosquitoes, on the other hand, feed exclusively on the sap of plants.

Insect Bites and Stings

Insect bites and stings are one of the most common reasons for acute, local skin reactions and are particularly common in the warmer months. They are mainly caused by mosquitoes, bees, and wasps. When they bite or sting, the insects release saliva or venom into the skin, which triggers a local inflammatory response. Typical symptoms include itching, redness, swelling, pain, or a burning sensation.

Unless you are allergic to insect bites or stings, they can be treated locally, for example using a roll-on, spray, or applicator. Depending on the composition, these products alleviate the pain and itching, and have mild disinfectant, anti-inflammatory, anti-swelling, and cooling effects, meaning that they can help soothe the skin.
